Should Male Cannabis Plants Stay In The Outdoor Crop
When planting a cannabis crop outdoors it will require the same thought as planting in the house or in the greenhouse when it involves male plants. One male cannabis plant is able to pollinate the entire crop and that means rather than harvesting buds with the female plant they will be loaded with seeds.
There are many people that grow cannabis out in a hidden crop that do not want the female plants to be pollinated and want a crop of sensemilla. The only way to do this is to harvest the male plants prior to when they are able to pollinate the female plant. In doing this, the male plant needs to have the stalk cut close to the ground and removed carefully so that it is unable to pollinate any of the females while it is being removed.
The male in an outside garden will mature in approximately 9 or10 weeks, this means they will need to be removed earlier than this or it is possible they have already pollinated the female cannabis plants.
If the male plant is left in the crop to grow and mature in nature, then it will take another 3 to 5 weeks for the female plants to mature and bare seeds. This does have at least one advantage and that is the fact that it will not be necessary for the person that wants to grow crops of cannabis to procure seeds in the future.
