Preparing The Room For The Pot Crop
When the decision is made to grow a crop of pot the house, the room that is selected to be used as the growing room will need to be prepared for the crop. The walls should be painted white and if it cannot be painted there are other products that can be used. Painting the room is done for two reasons, first it is for reflective purposes and secondly it will rid the rooms of any type of disease or bugs that could affect the pot plants.
Visqueen and Mylar can also be used in rooms that painting is not an option, as well as aluminum foil. These also have reflective properties and the reason this is important is that the reflective walls will be able to help out the lighting for the crop.
Painting the walls with a gloss white paint will have a reflective rate between 70 and 75 percent. Painting the walls with flat white paint will be between 70 and 80 percent reflective, visqueen is also between 70 and 80 percent. Mylar and aluminum foil has a reflective rate of about 95 percent.
The room should be cleaned and if there is carpeting and it is possible it should be removed from the room. This is for several reasons; the first is to remove anything that might affect the plants especially when they are seedlings. The second reason is because when watering the crop it will be difficult not to get thne carpeting wet, which over time can ruin it and cause mold, which can affect the plants. It can also damage the sub floor staying wet for extended amounts of time.
