Germinating Cannabis Seeds
Cannabis seeds are different than other types of seeds when being used for planting, these seeds need to be germinated prior to planting. To germinate the cannabis seeds there are at least two processes that many growers use and others that are not as popular, but also work in most cases.
The first way that growers germinate their seeds prior to planting is to soak the seeds for an amount of time, then they use paper towels that have been wet and wrung out so they are not dripping. The seeds are placed on the paper towel and then covered with other paper towels. This is then placed in a container and put in a dark place to begin the germination process. The towels will need to be checked on at least twice a day to ensure they do not dry out. To keep them moist a spray bottle is used to spritz them so they are damp, but not wet.
The second method is similar, but is a sturdier material that is used, in this case cellulous sponges are used. The same type that are used for washing dishes or cleaning without the scrubbing material on them, or if they have it this will be placed on the outside. The sponges will need to be rinsed and wrung out, then the seeds are laid on one and covered with a second one. The sponges with the cannabis seeds are then placed somewhere dark such as a cupboard.
Germination takes approximately 48 hours and the seeds are ready to be planted when they have cracked open and a tail of the root is protruding from the crack.
