Hydroponics Explained
When a person decides to grow an indoor crop of refer they have a choice, using the soil method which is the best known method of planting any crop or even house plant. This method of planting is one that has been used for many, many years and now another method of planting is becoming popular for the indoor refer crop and that is hydroponics.
This is planting in a medium such as rock wool where only the roots will be attached to it, rather than buried in it like they would be in soil. This means that the plant roots do not have to pull the nutrition out of the soil; instead it is fed directly to the roots, by means of water that is filled with nutrition. The nutrition is plant food that is added to the water, the water is then fed to the plants using an aquarium pump with tubing that goes to each plant root. This is placed on a timer that is normally used for turning lights, televisions and radios on and off for vacations to make it appear someone is home. This timer instead will be used to send nutrient water to the plants at timed intervals.
This is the most important part of hydroponics, because there is not soil where the roots are leaching nutrition to the plant, there is only the watering that will provide the nutrition needed by the refer plants while they are growing.
